The leather on this box is in good condition. The outer flap shows scattered moderate surface crazing with a small Pattern 1839 oval US plate attached at center. The latch tab is sewn to the underside of the flap by a single line of stitching. Tab shows some surface crazing but it is solid.
The interior of the box is in nice condition. The interior flap is very nice and has both ears. The interior has the original single tin. The top portion of the tin is subdivided into five small sections. In one section the tin divider has come loose but is present. The finial is present at bottom.
Reverse has both belt loops which are sewn. Loops show minor wear.
Box is in very nice condition overall. [ad] [ph:L]
