This leather cartridge box is in exceptional condition. The outer flap is clean and smooth with only the finest of crazing in the finish, mostly in the area of the top “hinge” area. Closing tab is soft and remains complete and unbroken. It is tightly stitched to the outer flap with only a straight line of stitching.
Inner flap is in similar very good condition, with just the slightest edge wear. Both side “ears” remain tightly stitched. The implement pouch is in very good condition with slight surface cracking seen on the flap and tab portion.
Both “miniature” tins remain with the box. These measure approximately 3” x 1.3” x 3.5” deep.
There are no roller buckles on the bottom. The brass finial is solidly in place. Belt loops on back are in place and tightly stitched and riveted.
The piece is unmarked which is typical or Allegheny Arsenal made leather goods. Overall, the box is in very excellent shape. An interesting “smaller” cartridge box. [jet] [ph:L]
