Cap is made of dark blue wool with a straight round body approx. 2.75 inches high and a straight flat-topped crown approx. 6.50 inches wide. Each side of the crown has two vent holes approx. 2.00 inches apart.
Black leather visor slants downward and has a bound edge with a green leather underside.
Chinstrap is of thin black leather with one sliding brass keeper and one fixed leather keeper. Side buttons are two-piece general service eagle buttons.
Attached by a post and screw fastener to the front of the crown are crossed sabers with the regimental number “8” at top and company letter “B” at bottom.
Interior is lined with black polished cotton and has a 2.00 inch wide brown leather sweatband. There is no maker’s mark or label.
The overall condition of the cap’s exterior is very good and is free from any moth action.
Interior is in nice condition with the sweat band showing only minor sweat stains from use. There is a 3.50 inch long separation in the lining of the crown but otherwise the lining is in nice condition. Surface of the visor shows light crazing. [ad] [ph:L]
