Well used box with wood block for holding twenty .54 Burnside cartridges.
Outer flap has moderate to heavy crazing but little surface finish loss. A rivet and an arched line of stitching holds the latch tab in place. Tab is complete and solid but slightly worn. Faint maker’s mark is stamped at bottom center of the flap - possibly “J. Davey & Co. / Newark N.J.”
Inner flap is smooth and clean with both ears still in place.
Implement pocket shows signs of heavy wear on its flap but the rest is very good.
The body of the box is in very good condition. The brass finial and both roller buckles are present on the bottom. The back of the box has both belt loops with each showing some light crazing. [ad]
