Small leather box to hold friction primers and carried on the belt. The box is relatively square in shape to accommodate the shape of the friction primer packs. This box was manufactured in 1862, single wide belt loop is sewn, latch tab is sewn, brass finial, outer flap to cover the contents. Manufacturer mark on the outer flap: "NAVY YARD / PHIL'A / 1862" and two stars on each side of the date. This Navy fuse box is in very good condition. The outer flap is smooth and clean with nice stamping. The latch tab is sewn to the underside of the flap and is in decent condition with some cracking. All of the leather is soft and pliable and stitching is still tight. A very nice example. [jet]
