Stamped “Watervliet Arsenal”. Indian Wars-era box, ca. 1880s. Black leather, with finial and strap, interior compartment stitched for twenty .45-70 Springfield trapdoor cartridges, with lower brass hinging mechanism. Leather exhibits light cracking, interior stitching tight and clean. New Jersey plate bright with traces of verdigris. Superb Indian Wars-era militia collectible.  [jp]
