This is a non-commissioned officer’s sword belt in good condition. Belt is constructed of heavy buff leather that has given to a deep brown color throughout.

As it is currently configured, the belt measures approximately 36” long overall x 1.9” wide. Leather dry but free of cracking. The sliding belt loop keeper remains on the belt.

A Pattern 1851 buckle is nicely detailed on the front with a one-piece applied German silver wreath. A 1/2” wide tongue is on the back. A “378” benchmark number is stamped on the keeper and matches the stamp on the plate.

Leather sword hangers remain well attached to belt; one short and one very long.  The “Sam Brown” style shoulder strap remains attached and in good condition with minor stitching separation near the belt hook attachment. Otherwise, all stitching appears to be strong and intact.

Overall, a good example of an NCO sword belt that would compliment any Civil War collection or display. [cm][ph:L]
