Enlisted waist belt of bridle leather with “US” buckle, sword hangers, and shoulder strap.
The belt is about 1.75" wide, shows honest use, and remains solid and supple. The two hangers, long and short, are attached with brass hooks to the brass belt loop “slides”. The straps have the large brass “buttons” on the ends to secure a sword scabbard. Belt has a brass hook used to adjust length and a floating belt loop. Stamped on the leather near the buckle is, “E / 3 Cav. / 66.” Possibly representing Company E, 3rd U.S. Cavalry, and a rack number 66.
The solid brass buckle has the 1874 rectangular plate with narrow hook on back and matching brass “keeper”. The letters “US” are in the center of the plate within an oval.
Entire belt rig in very fine condition. [jet][ph:L]
