US PATTERN 1839 BELT PLATE AND BELT WITH MAKER’S STAMP

$375.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 2024-1387

This non-excavated Federal belt plate is of the regulation 1839 pattern. Constructed in the die-struck and rolled brass method, the brass accoutrement’s face shows a clear “US”. Face shows a nice bright finish. Lead filled back retains 100% of lead fill. No maker’s mark. This is the style with brass “arrow” hooks; all three hooks remain.

Plate is attached to a regulation bridle leather enlistedman’s waist belt. The belt measures approximately 39” long by 2” wide. End of belt opposite the plate still retains the brass “keeper”. Leather is stamped with “E. METZGER, PHILA” and “HARTZELL” sub-inspector stamps. Leather remains pliable with some light surface crazing.

A fine Civil War enlisted waist belt.   [jet][ph:L]
