Civil War era officer’s belt buckle on original waist belt. Cast brass eagle buckle with integral silver wreath and narrow ½ inch wide hook on back. The detail of the eagle remains very good.
Folded and sewn leather waist belt is 1 ¾” wide with brass keeper sewn to one end and with brass wire adjuster buckle on the other. There are four rows of stitching, two sliding leather belt loops, and leather uniform protector (rests under the belt plate). Surface of the leather shows some cracking but is otherwise nice and supple. [jet] [ph:L]
