US MODEL 1851 CAVALRY BELT RIG

$750.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 2020-1174

Belt is in overall nice condition with both drops, shoulder support strap, plate and one sliding keeper.

Buff leather is in slightly stiff but pliable condition. Belt meas. approx. 1.75 inches wide and the surface shows only light wear. Attached to the belt is a rectangular Model 1851 NCO plate with spread winged eagle and applied silver wreath. Plate has a bench mark of “427” which matches the number on the keeper. Plate is in excellent condition with a nice light patina to the face and a reverse that is dark.

Attached to the belt are one long and one short sword drop. Both are complete with brass studs. About half-way down the length of the short drop there is a slit cut in the leather to accept the brass adjustment stud. The leather on one side of the slit is broken but the opposite side is holding well and there is no danger of a total break.  Also present is a complete shoulder support strap. The left side of the belt has a brass hook for holding an edged weapon.

This is a good example of the cavalry belt that can be used to display alone or on a uniform. [ad]
