Constructed of black bridle leather, shaped to fit the head of the axe, with strap to secure the axe and a loop on the rear.
The piece measures approximately 8” wide by 6.5” high, the leather is in good condition showing use. There is moderate crazing on the surface with heavier wear on the belt loop and strap. Stitching is separated in some sections along back seam; other areas remain tightly stitched. Front is clearly stamped, “US.N.Y./BOSTON.” The brass finial, strap securing the axe and the belt strap or loop are all present.
