This saddle was originally a 1904 but in 1928 the US Government arsenals issued a modification kit for soldiers and saddlers to convert the 1904 into the 1928. This was done by adding skirts and removing quarter strapping.
The leather seat is in fair to good condition. There is some moderate insect tracking on its face. The front cantle has a brass saddle shield that reads “11 ½ INCH SEAT.” The interior seam of the seat has separated over most of its length. “O” rings are present on all four corners as are coat strap slits and escutcheons.
Skits are good but curled some. Front of right skirt has separated from the seat and needs resewn.
Girth strap is frayed but mostly present.
All surfaces are dirty and a bit dry.
There are no stirrups attached. [ad]
