This insignia features an embroidered New York State Seal. The State Seal features an eagle atop the New York crest with “EXCELSIOR” in a ribbon under.
This piece remains in good condition. The background of black vervet retains it knap. Gold and silver bullion thread remains tight and perfect with a uniform tarnish. A thin “coil” of brass forms an edge around the entire oval piece.
Back of patch is covered with original brown cotton sewn around the parameter. There are a couple of fine “rubs” around the edges. The original attachment loops have been removed.
Measures nearly 2.75” tall x 2” wide. This could have been worn of the front of a slouch hat or as a means to pin up the side brim. A fine state-issued insignia in good condition. [jet] [ph:L]
