Presented here in simply wonderful, original condition is a medium size, regulation Ordnance flaming bomb insignia. Constructed of stamped sheet brass, the ball and shield-shaped hat and cap ornament is of regulation size and measures 1½” long x 1¼” wide at the top. This Ordnance “Flaming Bomb” insignia specimen is in very good strong condition, and exhibits no dents or cracks. Retains the two loop fasteners visible on the backside. Highly desirable and difficult to find, this ‘Flaming Bomb’ brass insignia is a fine example of the regulation hat device worn by many Federal officers prior to, during and after the Civil War.
