This rolled and stamped sheet brass depicts the insignia worn by soldiers in the infantry branch of the U.S. Army during the Civil War. Item measures 3.25" long. Bellhorn measures 1" wide, mouthpiece is 1/4" wide. Ornate designs are present on bellhorn, mouthpiece and center loop. Reverse shows two small attachment loops which are soldered to horn. Brass has retained its bright gilt.
This is a fine, original, unissued artifact from the Union Army during the Civil War. [SL]
