Embroidered patch in the shape of a palmetto tree. Background is black felt with gold bullion thread and sequence used to embroider the palmetto tree. Gold is semi-bright, with some original gilt remaining on higher surfaces. Backing of patch is muslin which has darkened with age. Gold stitching is visible on the back of the muslin. Some of the black felt is missing from the edges, but otherwise patch is intact and stitching is tight.
Measures 3- ¼” long by 2- ¼” at the widest part.
This is a unique find for a collector of South Carolina items.
