Insignia consists of a stamped brass spread-winged eagle with a 3.00 inch wingspan. The eagle is looking to its right. On his chest is a Union shield and in his right talon he holds an olive branch and in his left are three arrows.
The brass of the insignia has darkened and spotted some with age but all the details of the eagle and shield are clear. There are no hooks or wires on the reverse.
