Wood drum canteen is the type commonly carried by C.S. soldiers. Wood is smooth and shows a rich brown patina. All three iron sling keepers are present. Original cork stopper remains in bunghole. Both iron retaining bans are slightly loose, but hold body of canteen tightly together.
Measures 7 ¼” in circumference by 2 ¼” wide. Shows light surface scratches and dings. There is one small crack at the outside edge measuring ¾” long.
Great display piece for a North Carolina or any Confederate collection. [sl]
