Offered is a well-preserved Confederate canteen. This example was from the famous Francis Lord collection. The canteen is constructed by soldering two 6 ¾ inch by 1 ¼ inch high sections together. A pewter spout is added as well as three strap loops. The cork is attached to a chain that attaches to one of the loops. The woven cotton cloth is approximately 5/8 of an inch wide. It has been tied into a tight knot many years ago, probably to shorten it.
