Offered here in near mint / unissued condition is an enlisted infantryman’s blackened buff leather waist belt consisting of the pattern 1857/ 1864 U.S. die struck gilted brass face and rear lead filled belt plate (arrow hook belt attachments mounted on rear) along with the adopted brass belt keeper. All mounted on a regulation black buff belt. Buckle retains 90%of its original surface gilt and without damages to the surrounding outer rim. Brass keeper is mounted by a set of spikes clinched into the rear side of the belt and is still tight and in good order. Buff leather belt is slightly dry due to many, many years of storage, but is still supple and quite black. No noticeable inspectors mark.
If you’ve ever had a desire to add an outstanding example of this type of waist belt to advance or upgrade your collection, this certainly would be the one!
