Gold framed shadow box meas. approx. 11.75 inches wide x 14.00 inches long x 1.75 inches deep. Inside the box is lined with a blue cloth material with a matching mat. At center is a Model 1839 oval “US” belt plate above a rectangular “CSA” plate. The oval US has both arrow hooks and tongue on the back. The face has a light delicate patina showing little if any wear. The plate has no dings or dents of any kind and is in first class condition.
The cast brass Atlanta Arsenal style rectangular CSA plate has all three hooks on the back and matches the US plate in condition. The face has a nice patina slightly darker in some areas. Edges show light signs of filing that is common on these plates. The face shows little wear from use. Casting is good.
These are indeed two excellent examples of a Union and Confederate plate.
