High grade piece with magnificent silver eagle & beautifully gilt wreath & field behind it. Surface edges exhibit slight scratching, else fine. Keeper stamped with numeral 46, displays tarnish. Solid reverse hook, with light tarnish & grime. Lower grade bridal leather belt measures 39.5” in length, 1.5” in width, and is broken just before the inner buckle. Both side hanger straps present, but broken. Belt may be restorable.
Overall, this silver eagled buckle accompanying this belt is presentation grade, and may be the finest, most attractive M1851 officer’s buckle we’ve seen.
