This non-excavated Federal belt plate is of the regulation 1839 pattern. Constructed in the die-struck and rolled brass method, the brass accoutrement’s face shows a clear “US”. Face remains bright with one noticeable small ding on the “U”.
Lead filled back retains 100% of lead fill. No maker’s mark. This is the style with brass “arrow” hooks; all three hooks remain.
A very fine Civil War waist belt plate. [jet] [ph:L]
