Excellent "flatlong" cartridge for the .44 Henry and M1866 Winchester rifles or the Colt, Remington, and Smith & Wesson revolvers. This particular cartridge was manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. One groove "Stetson" bullet, copper case with headstamp of a raised "H" within a recessed circle and showing tool marks on the head. These "tic" or tool marks was caused by the machinery used to seat the bullet and roll the case seam.
The Winchester Repeating Arms Company was in New Haven, CT. Incorporated in 1866.
