Rectangular plate of the pattern used by officer’s during the Civil War.

Plate is all brass and has a dark patina on the lower surfaces. Raised areas are a bit brighter giving the plate a nice look. The US shield on the eagle’s chest shows some slight smoothing from use.

The reverse of the plate is very dark, almost black and has a small tongue which is correct.

No major dings or dents. No visible markings or bench number.

A nice solid wartime officer’s plate.
