Tin box meas. approx. 6.50 inches long x 3.00 inches wide x 2.75 inches high. Box is japanned both inside and out and is free of any dings or dents. The exterior surface shows some minor scratches consistent with age, while the interior is still in nice condition. Interestingly, when they painted on the interior coating, they missed one of the side walls.
Lid has iron hinges as well has a thin metal sliding bar locking device on the front of the lid. Top center of the lid has a stamped brass medallion with a knight holding his shield and sword at center surrounded by “WM. H. HORSTMANN COMPANY - PHILADA.”
Box appears to be for either shoulder straps or a folded up belt. [ad] [ph:L]
