A well-used example of a mid-19th century imported military bugle. This specimen has certainly seen quite a bit of service over the years. Although dented in various areas along the body and having a heavily bent bell, this pattern is of the U.S. regulation type bugle. There are also the remains of the U.S. Cavalry wool -worsted knotted cords and tassels. The construction method of the body can be seen within the mouth of the bell, it is what is known as the dovetail type lock seam. Full length measurement, from the mouth piece to the bell is 18 ½” with an approximant diameter of the bell being close to 6”. No manufacturers noted.
