Dark wooden check with brass side handles, & upper & lower compartment, key hole [key lock & key missing]. Front side contains vertical rod-hole & rod which secures the lower compartment, and which is characteristic of pre-war multi-compartment chest. Slotted upper compartment contains 33 post-war bottles of varying sizes, ranging from 1.5 to 5” in height. One bottle has glass stopper, many others are corks, four are dark colored. Lower compartment contains one dark, un-stoppered bottle, 5.5” in height, with 7 white glass cups, of varying sizes, one with strainer holes at bottom, with three accompanying lids.
In terms of condition, the box exterior displays minor dings & nicks, and two moderate cracks across lid, but is solid and attractive. Interior compartments clean, by and large, and the bottles exhibit no cracks.
Highly attractive chest & bottles. Excellent 19th medical collectible.
