Three-quarter view of Private Amos LeFavour seated by a table with his left arm resting on the tabletop. He wears a dark frock coat buttoned only at the top. He also wears a matching dark vest with watch chain and light trousers. Image has very light minor specs of surface dirt just above the subject’s neck and head otherwise the image is very clean. Lower mount has what looks to be a period pencil inscription that reads “PRIVATE AMOS LeFAVOUR.” Reverse has photographers imprint for W. SNELL…SALEM and orange tax stamp in a printed frame.
Amos LeFavour listed his occupation as a Seaman when he enlisted as a Private in the 2nd Company Massachusetts Unattached Militia on November 16, 1864. One wonders why the 20 year old did not join the Navy. He was mustered out on July 7, 1865 after service at Eastern Point, Gloucester.
