Lower mount has what looks to be a period pencil inscription that reads “PRIVATE AMOS LeFAVOUR.” Reverse has photographers imprint for W. SNELL…SALEM and orange tax stamp in a printed frame.

Amos LeFavour listed his occupation as a Seaman when he enlisted as a Private in the 2^nd Company Massachusetts Unattached Militia on November 16, 1864. One wonders why the 20 year old did not join the Navy. He was mustered out on July 7, 1865 after service at Eastern Point, Gloucester.
