Great three-quarter standing view of Ulysses S. Grant. Image shows Grant from knees up and in uniform. He wears a military vest and a double-breasted Lieutenant General’s coat with shoulder straps. There are two strips of black crepe hanging off his left arm suggesting this image was recorded after Lincoln’s assignation.
Very good clarity and contrast. Typical cdv mount with ruled border; untrimmed. Webster & Popkins, Hartford b/m.
A very fine photo of the commander of the Union Armies. [jet] [PH:L]
