These two fresh recruits sit dressed in four button sack coats and matching dark trousers. Both sport US waist belts with a cap box and bayonet, and dark blue caps with the visors flipped up. Nice view of the muskets which both hold across the chest pointing skyward. This one has an old paper advertisement tucked into the case behind the image for a photographic studio located in Missouri. On the back of it is written the name George Hichler.

George would muster as a private in the 2^nd Missouri Reserve Infantry in early May, 1861. They would serve as a 3 month unit attached to Lyon’s Army of the West. They would capture Camp Jackson of St. Louis, and work guarding several railroad bridges. George and the rest of the 2^nd Missouri would muster out of service that August. He doesn’t appear to have any further service at that point. We’re not sure which of the pair is George.

Image has some very light swipe marks on it which do not detract in the slightest.
