This bible is in fair condition as the spine is missing but the covers are intact. There is loss to the edges of both the front and back covers. All pages are intact despite the loss to the cover and spine.
Pvt. Jesse Cox was drafted into Company B of the 48th Pennsylvania on December 13th 1864. He served with the regiment for the remainder of the war until muster-out at Alexandria on July 17th 1865. Cox’s service with the 48th PA saw the occupation of Petersburg and movements around City Point and Alexandria culminating with the Grand Review and duty in Washington and Alexandria.
Jesse Cox lived in Northeastern Pennsylvania for much of his life. He was a farmer and was husband to Louisa (Ford) Cox. The two had one child, Alfred Ford Cox. Little information could be found relating to their lives in northeastern Pennsylvania, but this little trio is worth digging into! More research awaits! [cla][ph:L]
