This small bible measures 3” x 4.75” and was published by the American Bible Society in 1864.
On the inside is a pencil identification and inscription. Another pencil inscription from the mother is found on the following page.
The text pages of the book are in fine condition with gilt outside edges. The brown leatherette cover features an impressed geometric design. The spine has “TESTAMENT” stamped in gold. The leather shows light wear, especially on edges and corners, but binding remains unbroken. A two-piece brass clasp is attached to the covers.
A nice inscribed young lady’s testament of the Civil War era. [jet][ph:L]
