Badge meas. approx. 1.00 inch high x 1 1/8 inches long. The basic metal appears to be gold plated brass.
The top portion of the badge consists of a blue riband with scrolled edges and the word “POST” done in gold. The bottom of the badge is another blue riband with scrolled edges with “G.A.R.” done in gold at center. The edges of the upper and lower riband meet on the sides thus forming a circle. At center of this is the number “63” done in gold with linear decorations on the surface.
The top reverse of the badge is engraved “HENRY W. ROSS.” Reverse also retains the original “T” bar pin.
Several states had a Post #63 and there are several Henry Ross' listed as having served during the war. It is not possible to nail down the ID to a certain soldier.
Very clean and attractive badge in excellent condition. [ad]
