Thomas Driesbach enlisted as a musician in Co. “H”, 67th PA Infy, on 2/11/1862. The company roster in Bates PA Volunteers, lists him as deserting on 2/15/1862, the same day his brother Peter enlisted in the same company, which was very probably a mistake that was somehow never corrected. Invites further research.

The 67th PA Infantry was a two year unit organized in Philadelphia in March 1862. It was posted in Annapolis until the spring of 1863, after which it participated in the Battle of Winchester, June 13-15, and in the pursuit of Lee following the Battle of Gettysburg. In 1864 the unit joined in the Rapidan Campaign,  while its veterans were furloughed, later to return to action at White House, VA, where  Peter Driesbach was captured, and sent by the rebels to Andersonville.  The regiment then joined Sheridan’s Shenandoah Valley Campaigned before joining the Siege of Petersburg & the final pursuit of Lee to Appomattox. During service the 67th PA lost 79 men killed and mortally wounded and 153 by disease for a total of 232.

Highly attractive 67th PA grouping. Accompanied by documentation. In riker box measuring 16.5 x 12.25”. Invites further research.
