This uncommon pair of colorized stereoscopic images feature views of different sections of the Gettysburg National Cemetery.

One card shows a portion of the unknown section of the cemetery with numbered headstones.  A remaining sliver of transparent tape is present on the upper right side of the image while a negative label reads “1145 Graves of Unknown, National Cemetery Gettysburg, Pa.”  The other card has a dual image of a known State section of the cemetery and its label reads “1578 Graves of Known and National Monument, Gettysburg, Pa.”

Both images are mounted to white cards which show light surface dirt.  Minor wear is present at the front corners and edges, but the overall condition of each is still good.  Text on either side of the images reads “Webster and Albee, Publishers, Rochester, N.Y.” and “Artistic American Scenery”. The reverse of each is blank, with older penciled notations and small pasted tags. The reverse of the unknown card reads “CB93200 10- 62” with the small, white tag reading “1”.  The known photo is labeled the same, save for a “2” on the tag and a “63” in place of the former’s “62”.  There is scattered light surface dirt and discoloration on the reverse of each. Both cards measure 6.9” x 4.1”.

This haunting but beautiful pair of cards would feature nicely among any stereoview, Gettysburg, or Civil War collection. [cm][ph:L]
