Nice untouched appearance to this partial sword with a broken blade, of which 20 ½” is remaining. Blade is marked, “Horstmann & Sons / Philadelphia.” All of the grip is missing. Nice brass guard and pommel cap. Dark patina to the blade.
The Dobbin House Museum opened in the late 1940’s. Curvin Heiss was the owner. Along with the relic collection was a diorama of the battle that was a popular attraction during the heyday of the 1960’s. The museum closed in 1975 at which time the museum and diorama were put in storage; items from the museum were sold off at that time.
Originally sold as item R7727. [ld][ph:L]
