Gettysburg Pennsylvania Day September 11-12 1889 invitation and program (2 pcs). Pennsylvania Day was a festival at Gettysburg that celebrated the dedication of memorials (approx 53) to the Pennsylvania units that fought in the Civil War. The cover of the 4 page program is nicely illustrated in color with draped American and Pennsylvania flags with a ribbon showing Corp Badges of the 7 Union Corp that fought at Gettysburg. The two inside pages list the ceremonies taking place over the 2 days. The one-sided invitation describes the event and lists the commissioners responsible. In the upper left corner is a raised embossing of the PA State flag design in gold. Both items measure 5.5” x 7”. The invitation has discoloration, wrinkles and creases especially in the upper left corner. The program is in good condition with some age browning and spotting inside. Scarce pieces of Gettysburg ephemera from the 19th century heyday of battlefield memorialization. [dm][ph:L]
