Here is a wonderful photograph of the “Pickett’s Charge” area of the Gettysburg Military Park in 1917. At this time the U.S. Army was preparing itself for entry into World War 1. The framed image measures 9” x 41 ½” overall. Narrow black frame shows some minor scuffs. Image is under glass. Image was recorded from the observation tower at Ziegler’s Grove providing an elevated view of both the battlefield and the military training camps. The scene is mostly filled with tents and stables, but also visible are soldiers marching down Emmitsburg Road, horses, railroad tracks, a trolley, and monuments. Of special interest are views of Webb and Meade Avenues. Captioned at bottom of image is “View of U.S. Military Camp / At Gettysburg, PA. 1917. / M.F. Williams / Photo.” Nice clear image with good contrast. [jet]
Extra shipping required; if at all possible, pick up at the shop would be preferable to avoid breakage.
