This photo is an unmounted view of Lee’s Headquarters published as view No. 573 in Stereo Gems of Gettysburg Scenery by Gettysburg photographer William H. Tipton. Measures 3" x 2 1/4".
In the foreground is the white board fence that lined the Chambersburg Pike and in the middle distance is the ruined white picket fence that surrounded the house with the house itself dominating the background.
Contrast and clarity are very good.
Reverse has a faint period pencil inscription that reads “GEN. LEE’S HDQRS GETTYSBURG.” [AD][ph:L]
