This is a Gettysburg souvenir from John Good and his “Gettysburg Battlefield Novelty Works.” He was specifically known for his talents at wood working and “fancy turning” to create souvenirs from genuine battlefield wood.
This piece of wood is in the shape of a Civil War 3-groove Minie Ball. Still in excellent condition. The “turned bullet” is a typical trademark of Good’s items as they were often found as parts of his more elaborate “statuettes.” See O’Donnell’s “Gettysburg Battlefield Relics & Souvenirs”, page 286-287.
These measure about 1.75” tall. [jet] [PH:L]
