View was done by H. E. Weaver of Washington, D.C. and shows the small granite marker at the spot where Major General Winfield Scott Hancock was wounded on July 3, 1863 at Gettysburg.
The view is taken from Hancock Ave looking west with the marker in the foreground and the fields of Pickett’s Charge in the background.
Contrast and clarity are good as are the mount and paper.
The reverse has a small paper label with Weaver’s name in the lower left corner and a larger printed label at upper right that reads “GETTYSBURG BATTLEFIELD, THE BLOODY ANGLE, GEN HANCOCK WOUNDED HERE.” [ad] [PH:L]
