Offered here is a relic condition US cartridge box plate. Die stamped brass face with lead filled back. This item is in “dug” condition. The face shows freeze cracks and there is moderate edge loss on the lower, right. Plate is bent slightly in-ward. Brass face shows nice green/brown patina. There are no hooks remaining on the back. There are lines carved into the lead on the back.
Comes with an old computer printout with detailed information about the plate. Printout was generated by Wendell Lang when this piece was in his collection.
Noted to have been recovered at the position of the 20th Maine Infantry on Little Round Top, Gettysburg. [jet] [PH:L]
