Shell is complete and has an iron surface that is mostly smooth except for some minor scattered surface pitting and very light surface rust. One side of the nose does have a shallow 1.00 inch long gouge.

Nose has the remains of the zinc fuse plug while the base retains the iron sabot that shows signs of having been fired. Base has a small hole at center where the shell was deactivated.

On the side of the shell in white paint is “CULP’S HILL.”

Item was purchased at the auction of Mr. Bream’s collection in 2021 and still has the auction lot tag with #324 attached.

Mr. Bream was a 1970 graduate of Gettysburg High School and life-long relic hunter and collector. His parents managed the Stuckey’s Restaurant that was once located at the north-west corner of the Emmitsburg & Wheatfield Roads intersection (opposite the Peach Orchard). In the late 1960s through the early 1970s Ken worked on the Eisenhower Farm as a groundskeeper, maintenance man, and general helper for the Eisenhower’s. For many years, he was the Gettysburg Dog Enforcement Officer.  [ad] [ph:L]
