Bust view wearing civilian clothing. Printed on a label attached at the bottom of the image is “WILLIAM ROBINSON, Co. E.”; “Serg’t.” is written in period ink in front of the name. Pair of period ink inscriptions on reverse: “Wm Robinson Co. E / of Exeter / Now of Lynn Mass” and “Wm. Robinson / Co E 2ed N.H.V. / Lynn Mass”.  BM: W.M. Wires / 139 / Broad St. / Lynn, Mass.”

Overall good condition. Scattered wear to edges of mount; 2 small tears to label with name. Some areas of light colored spotting, does obscure the face somewhat.

Robinson was a 21 year old resident of Exeter, NH who enlisted on 5/2/61 as a Private; mustered into Co. E, 2nd NH on 6/3/61. Promoted to Corporal 3/1/63 and Sergeant 7/1/63. Listed as wounded at Gettysburg on 7/2/63. Following the war he was a member of GAR Post #5 in Lynn, MA. He died on 4/10/1915. [ld] [ph:L]
