This vintage silver spoon shows a raised image of General Meade at the top of the handle. Below this are images of the High Water Mark Monument, Devil’s Den, and the New York Monument at the Soldier’s National Cemetery. Bowl of spoon features General Hancock falling from his horse after being shot, while surrounded by his comrades. Wording reads, “GETTYSBURG / JULY 1863 / HANCOCK WOUNDED”.
Reverse of handle is maker marked, “STERLING / C.A. BLOCHER”.
Spoon measures 4 ¾” in length. There is slight tarnishing, but polishing should bring back the original gilt. [sl]
