A large piece of oak measuring 7” tall x 7” wide x 5” at the thickest point. Center portion chopped out to expose the base and cavity of a three-groove Minie ball. Interestingly, the bullet is the type made by machine at a Northern arsenal with a raised “star” in the cavity. The star is still visible in the cavity of the bullet as it appears in the wood. This chunk of wood is completely solid with no rot or soft spots.
A perfect example of a “wounded tree” that once stood between the opposing armies. [jet]
