The Gettysburg Electric Railway was a trolley system that existed from September 1893 - November 1916. It ran from town and to different places on the battlefield. This ticket is marked in red ink, “THE GETTYSBURG ELECTRIC RAILWAY CO. ONE FIRST CLASS PASSAGE LITTLE ROUND TOP TO HIGH WATER MARK, VOID IF DETACHED”. Front side of ticket has a photo of the High Water Mark monument and Copse of Trees on the battlefield. Reverse of ticket features a scene from the Gettysburg Cyclorama painting and is labeled in red ink, “HIGH WATER MARK”.
Ticket has yellowed with age but images are clear.
Ticket measures 2 ¾” x 1 ¾”.
This is a nice vintage collectible of early Gettysburg memorabilia.
