Item Code: 806-230

Very nice full-color framed pint showing 26 Confederate Generals in uniform. Framed the print meas. approx. 30.25 inches long x 19.00 inches wide. The wood frame is painted gold and looks to be in good condition. The print is double matted with a gray over red mat. When the framed was sealed a lose nail was trapped inside and is visible in the upper left corner but this can easily be removed.

The print shows all 26 Generals in a full-standing pose and arranged in one line. The Generals pictured left to right are Hood, Ewell, Bragg, A. S. Johnston, Hampton, Kirby Smith, Early, A. P. Hill, S. D. Lee, R. H. Anderson, Gordon, Holmes, Hardee, J. Johnston, Buckner, Longstreet, Polk, R. E. Lee, Forrest, Beauregard, Jackson, Cooper, Stuart (spelled Stewart), Taylor, Pemberton and D. H. Hill.

There is publishing information along the base of the image that reads “COPYWRITE 1907 BY W. S. MATTHEWS.” The white border has yellowed some with age and there is a crease line or closed tear running from the mid right edge and traveling down toward the center bottom. This line runs approx. 10.00 inches and cannot be readily seen from a distance.

For years this item hung in the well-known Lee’s Headquarters Museum on US RT 30 just west of Gettysburg. The print was released for sale when that museum closed in 2014.
